Bear Grylls Knife Review

The Bear Grylls Knife is a rugged performer and reasonably priced. It is available in the plain edge as reviewed here or in a serrated version. I expect them both to perform equally and base my review solely on my personal preference for a straight edge over the serrated version.

Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Knife, Fine Edge [31-001063]

Description of the Bear Grylls Knife

I prefer a non-serrated Survival Knife simply because I like to be able to sharpen my blades quickly in the field with minimal equipment – I also like to be able to employ a leather strop easily, which is much more difficult with a serrated edge.  I just simply prefer an edge that goes all the way from the tip to the hilt. This knife is made out of high carbon, stainless steel and has a drop point-shaped blade with an overmolded rubber handle. The Bear Grylls Knife comes with a nylon and hard rubber sheath, a fire striker, and a built-in knife sharpener.

You can expect to perform general cutting tasks easily using the Bear Grylls Knife from Gerber Knives.

This Bear Grylls Knife has a 4.8-inch blade, with a 10 inch overall length, and weighs 11.2 oz.  The blade is made of 7Cr17Mov stainless steel.

The Bear Grylls Knife has a full-length tang which would indicate it is rugged enough to pound the occasional tent peg or dowel end. The blade is tough, but expect some scratches to the finish if you’re digging around in dirt much. This is a sturdy, dependable knife well-suited for an occasional day hike or perfect for the truck.
